国際家具デザインフェア旭川（IFDA）のデザインコンペティションの入賞作品が3月9日に発表されました。世界37カ国、588点の応募の中から、オンラインによる本審査を経て、渡辺賢氏の「cubicle（キュービクル）」が最高賞のゴールドリーフ賞に輝きました。
審査委員長の建築家・藤本壮介氏は選出の理由について「外に開いていながらも、自分の世界が確保できるという、人や社会との距離感が可視化されている」と説明しました。

The winners of the design competition organized by the International Furniture Design Fair Asahikawa (IFDA) were announced on March 9, 2021. Among 588 applicants from 37 countries, Watanabe Ken’s Cubicle won the Gold Leaf Award, the most prestigious award of the competition, as a result of the selection process conducted online. The architect Sou Fujimoto, who was the chief juror, explained the reason for the selection by stating that “even in an open space, it visualizes the sense of distance one feels with both others and society, and how one is able to secure their own personal space.”
